5 Yoga Poses to Open the Heart

Hello, welcome back! I'm Frances from Four Noble Holistic Healing, and I'm so excited to be here with you today. So, today we're going to talk about five yoga poses to open up the heart space. Let's get to it, okay?

Before we delve into each pose, let's first explain why this is important. Our heart chakra acts as the bridge between our lower three chakras, which represent our earth energies, and our upper three chakras, which represent our ethereal energies. It is essential to ensure that our heart chakra is open, allowing us to feel grounded while being connected at the same time. If our heart is blocked, it becomes challenging to maintain a balance between earth energy and airy-fairy thoughts or to connect with our inner self or source. However, an open heart chakra aligns all our chakras, enabling us to make clear decisions, feel highly vibrational, and experience a smoother flow in everything we do.

Now, let's move on to the yoga poses. I'll connect each position through a vinyasa flow, but these poses can also be performed individually. So, if you have limited time and want to open your heart quickly, pick your favorite pose and go for it. If you prefer a quick flow, you can combine them together as demonstrated in this video.

The first position is a gentle bridge. To begin, lie down flat, and make sure to walk your shoulder blades towards your spine. Your feet should be directly underneath your knees, and your hands placed firmly on the ground, just like your feet. Push down actively into the earth, engaging your core, and as you inhale, lift your hips up. Focus on feeling the space behind your heart grounding into the earth while shining up towards the sky. Hold this position for a few breaths and repeat as needed. Afterward, roll yourself up and come into a standing forward fold, relaxing your head and neck.

Now, let's flow through the first vinyasa. Inhale, raise your arms high, and open your heart. Exhale, fold forward over your toes. Inhale, lift halfway up with a flat back. Exhale, release and step your hands back to plank. Flow through your vinyasa, moving into an upward facing dog, and take a moment to shine your heart. Exhale into downward facing dog.

Here comes pose number two. Inhale, lift your right leg high, then step it through between your hands, lowering your back knee and untucking the toes. Find your preferred arm position to open up the heart space. You can choose to extend your arms up, gently backbend, or take a steeple grip with your fingers interlaced, gently opening your heart. When you're ready, come back down and repeat on the other side.

Continue to flow through your vinyasa or go directly to downward facing dog. Now, inhale your left leg high, then step it through and lower your back knee. Open your heart space with your chosen arm position, and then come back down. Repeat on the other side once more.

Next, in a downward facing dog, lift your right leg high, tuck it into your chest, and cross it over, opening yourself up to a fallen star position. Lift your hips towards the sky and reach your arm up. For more challenges, open up your chest. Exhale and return to downward facing dog. Extend your right leg up and place it back down to your down dog. Repeat on the left side.

For the final pose, take a large step back and open up into a goddess pose. Your feet should be facing out, and your arms come high. Engage your core, and with your elbows hugging your sides, allow your heart space to shine right from the center of your heart. Imagine a green or pink ball of light spinning and radiating pure energy from your heart, spreading love to the entire earth. Inhale to breathe that love back in, and then extend your arms up, stretching your legs. Bring your palms to touch, and hands to heart, slowly walk your feet towards each other. Take a moment to feel the love and high vibration within you.

Well done, everybody! These are your five heart-opening poses. Remember, they can be done individually or as a flowing sequence. Please let me know how your practice goes or if you have any questions. Also, feel free to suggest any other videos you'd like to see. See you again real soon!

Sending so much love and light your way.

With gratitude,

Frances
